It is in playing and only in playing that the individual child or adult is able to be creative and to use the whole personality, and it is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self. ― Donald Winnicott
I am a registered art therapist and I work with children and young people. Developing an authentic and meaningful relationship with my young clients lies at the heart of my therapeutic work. I offer a safe and confidential space where children and young people can use both words and creativity – in form of art making and play – to express what matters to them. We work together towards a greater understanding of themselves, both their inner and outer worlds.
While working with children and young people, I also provide consultations for parents to help them understand their child’s emotional needs.
Themes that I have come across in my therapeutic work with children and young people include amongst others life transitions, anxiety, self-esteem, friendships, bullying, anger and parental separation.
My work as a private practitioner at the London Art Therapy Centre is informed by ten years of professional experience (both therapeutic and non-therapeutic roles) working with children and young people in education and community settings. I have been offering individual art therapy sessions to children and young people at a charity and a secondary school since 2016.
I have an MA in Art Psychotherapy from Goldsmiths, University of London. I run art therapy sessions in English and in Polish.
I am also passionate about socially engaged projects and creative media (i.e. documentary film and photography) being used as a tool for social change, in particular to articulate unheard voices of children and young people who go through hardships because of their extreme living circumstances such as poverty, conflict and illiteracy.
