Mondays 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Online using Zoom Pro with Hephzibah Kaplan RATh
Please note that since Covid we were joined by several participants who were not London-based so we have continued to run Art for the Heart workshops online to enable out-of-towners to attend. Please email hephzi@arttherapycentre.com to be sent a booking form with more details for online participation. Thank you.
Art for the Heart workshops have been running since 1999. Abundant art materials, a relaxed atmosphere and humorous provocation combine to create a high-energy workshop. This is an opportunity for you to express yourself in a way that is creative, free and authentic. It is also tremendous fun.
Personally you may find the process helpful in releasing stress, getting in touch with your inner artist, gaining confidence in freestyle painting and learning to be less judgmental of yourself and others. The workshops are especially beneficial for people who have little time for themselves.
Professionally you will learn art therapy approaches and interventions that are useful with clients; you will improve visual literacy and develop metaphoric thinking; you will become more versatile with art materials and you will develop a portfolio of meaningful paintings.
Each week there is a different theme offered. Collectively the workshops are designed to explore and develop different aspects of your creative self.
Who is it for?
The workshops are designed for anyone willing to participate in a thoughtful and supportive creative environment. It doesn’t matter if you think you can’t paint or draw. Previous participants have included accountants, artists, city analysts, counsellors, graphic designers, mothers, musicians, psychotherapists and teachers, as well as health care professionals, art therapists and art therapy trainees.

Testimonials
Many thanks for your sessions. I’ve found at the end of each one I’m intrigued and eager to know more. Maybe because through other people it is possible to learn about myself. Maybe because through having new glimpses about myself I am also more open to learning about other people……..a realisation that it is alright to be sensitive…..that it is alright to admit to feeling light and not dark, without a feeling of retribution…

There’s something nourishing about your workshops. They provide a time when I feel safe and relaxed and able to explore my creativity. More often than not I also find that I have connected with my sub-conscious in an unexpected and enlightening way. All this is a great contrast with my experience of art at school in which I learned a hundred ways to make brown.
