Dr. Brian Kaplan & Hephzibah Kaplan RATh
Brian has been practising medicine and psychotherapy for over 30 years. His first experience of group psychotherapy was with his mentor, the existential psychotherapist, Dr. E.K. Ledermann. He has also experienced extensive psychodynamic group therapy with a Kleinian analyst, learned Provocative group therapy from Frank Farrelly (founder of Provocative Therapy), studied with Hal and Sidra Stone (Voice Dialogue) and worked in groups with Robin Shohet (author of Supervision in the Helping Professions and Passionate Supervision). Brian remains passionate about the power of group supervision of cases because he believes that at any moment any participant might be the perfect supervisor for an important aspect of any clinical case presented.
Hephzibah is Director of London Art Therapy Centre as well as an art therapy practitioner and psychotherapy supervisor. She trained in art therapy at University of Hertfordshire and then trained in psychotherapy supervision at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education. This one-year eclectic training (undertaken in 2005) indicated that training in art therapy supervision fell short on several fronts and as a keen educator, this became the basis for her writing the innovative curriculum for a 6-month Integrative Arts Therapy Supervisors Training Course which she co-runs at the centre. Hephzibah has supervised/supervises arts therapists working in adult mental health, in the NHS & MIND, in hospices, primary and secondary schools, child bereavement charities, learning difficulties, as well as in private practice.
