Course description:
This one year course is being offered to final year and qualified arts therapists (art, drama, music, dance/movement or integrated) who wish to specialise and practice as Environmental Arts Therapists or who simply wish to enhance and extend their existing practice by working outdoors. You may also be a qualified health professional looking to extend your skills to work with people in nature.
The programme seeks to educate practitioners in the use and understanding of environmental arts as a therapeutic process. Environmental arts are represented in their broadest sense: that is visual arts, movement, drama and ritual in wild and natural locations, inspired by natural themes and cycles and using natural materials. Through practical and interpersonal experience, the course aims to enhance and develop the skills of the course participants and prepare them for taking their therapeutic practice outdoors.
Locations:
The Certificate in Environmental arts therapy is based at the London Art therapy centre and takes place at the centre in Kings Cross, in local parks, Highgate woods and on Hampstead Heath.
Facilitators:
Course leader: Ian Siddons Heginworth HCPC registered Drama Therapist and leading practitioner, innovator and teacher of environmental arts therapy.
Course coordinator: Gary Nash HCPC & BAAT registered Art Therapist
Course facilitators: Vanessa Jones & Simon Woodward are HCPC & BAAT registered Art Therapists with additional training in Environmental Arts Therapy.
One weekend per month for 12 months
