This is not what we trained for. Online art therapy started as an interim adaptive measure to enable continuity of care for clients – but surprisingly there has been an uptake in new self-referrals for online work. So how do we adapt our training to offer online art therapy?
This 2-hour CPD workshop will support you in formulating a structure for individual and group work online, developing your own guidelines and safety nets for clients, as well as think about the new clinical themes and difficulties that have emerged in online art therapy.
We shall reflect on how we work psycho-dynamically or otherwise; how we develop attunement in disembodied encounters, and how this new way of working elicits our own anxieties and more as therapists.
The workshop is suitable for both trainee and qualified arts therapists.
We shall use art-making as part of the learning process so be prepared with some art materials at the ready. This workshop will be delivered via Zoom.
Hephzibah Kaplan, art psychotherapist, supervisor and director of London Art Therapy Centre is facilitating this workshop. She has been working online for over 3 years, with groups, individuals and supervisees.
