29 Mar 2014 • Day Workshop • Art and Dwelling in Psychosis
Why are states of mind seen as states of health? This workshop questions notions of mental illness, looking at the problems of human experience as ordinary through the nature of art.
We are pleased to welcome art therapist and founder of Studio Upstairs, Douglas Gill, to run this workshop. Douglas will talk about his work of 20 years developing the Therapeutic Arts Community model.
This workshop and seminar is informed by Martin Heidegger and RD. Lang, looking at the phenomenological approach to therapy and community, plus a presentation of Studio Upstairs practice and structure.
In the current climate, Art Therapists, with their profound interest in the arts, are also qualified to develop these kind of practices as an alternative to psychiatry.
