28 March 2021 | Afternoon Online Workshop | Inviting Compassion through Art Therapy & Mindfulness
Inviting Compassion: an Art Therapy & Mindfulness workshop
How can we offer compassion and care to ourselves? This is a creative and explorative workshop integrating therapeutic art making with guided mindfulness meditation, open to all levels of experience.
The session will develop your understanding of mindfulness, compassion and self. During the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, structural racism, and climate crisis, the practices of mindfulness and compassion have the potential to support our own personal wellbeing, and ways in which you can meet others facing their own challenges. From the basis of self-care and kindness we may find new ways to be able to meet and respond to the collective challenges we are experiencing.
Aims:
- Deepen your understanding of mindfulness, compassion and self-compassion
- Understand some of the potential barriers to self-compassion
- Find out about the differences between compassion, empathy and empathetic distress
- Learn about ‘compassionate presence’
All levels of experience with mindfulness and/or art making are welcome to attend!
This workshop will be delivered via Zoom. You will need access to a private space to make art, and at least two art materials of your choice.
Facilitator/s:
Nicky Roland, is an experienced HCPC registered Art Therapist, a trained mindfulness teacher, and a Work That Reconnects facilitator with several years work experience in the NHS, voluntary sector and in private practice.
