17 June 2023 | In-person workshop | The Imposter Syndrome: overcompensation in ourselves and our clients

This experiential arts workshop is aimed at practitioners who have experienced a feeling that they will never know enough and may have a tendency to overcompensate at work. We will explore how feeling like an imposter and being in the place of “not knowing” is mutual to us and our clients, and how compassion assists us to find and meet in the place (field) of knowing and belonging…as Rumi said, “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”

The aims of the workshop are for participants to:

  • Understand the imposter syndrome
  • Recognize the imposter cycle in ourselves and our clients
  • Recognise co-morbidities, feelings and behavior associated with imposter syndrome e.g. anxiety, fear and over work
  • Be cognizant of the internal narratives of the “imposter”
  • Understand preconditions of inauthenticity as fertile ground for feeling like a fake
  • Identify tools to engage positively with negative thoughts
  • Reconsider the cases which most challenged our professional self-image
  • Deepen a sense of presence

This workshop is open to all who would find this useful but will be aimed at those in the helping professions (therapists | coaches | social workers | support workers | teachers | academics | advocates | nurses |doctors).

All levels of experience with art making welcome!
