16 & 17 Mar 2019 | 2-day Introduction to Jungian Sandplay Therapy

sandplayThe 2-day training offers an overview of Sandplay Therapy to date, an introduction to the use of the sand tray as container and the recommended range of figurines/ symbols. The weekend is built around participant use of the Sandtray to actively experience the theoretical concepts underpinning this approach.

Because the nature of Sandplay is pre-verbal and symbolic, the greater emphasis lies in the experiential component. As part of a small group of eight, there is the opportunity to work in pairs as both creator and silent witness, coming together to reflect upon the sand pictures, with the assurance that the work will be treated sensitively and will not be interpreted.

An introduction to the skills, models and approaches to using Sandtray work and how it complements Art Therapy practice. By the end of the weekend participants will have:-

  • Developed an understanding of the use of Sandplay with clients in art therapy
  • Considered the theories relating to symbolic play
  • Experienced the use of figurines and the Sandtray as a containing space
  • Explored how to use Sandtray work to compliment Art Therapy

With thanks to one of our previous participants who gave permission to include a slide show of her experience.

“I feel that with this workshop a seed has been planted within, into a whole new world of image making that I am excited to explore. Molly was a lovely, sensitive facilitator that delicately held the group into an journey within ourselves, and with empathically sitting with our partners.”
