04 Jun 2016 | Day Workshop | Taking Art Therapy Outdoors
Art therapists have been working outdoors in nature, working therapeutically and with environmental issues for several years (Siddons Heginworth, 2008; Rust 2011; Jones, 2012).
This workshop will introduce the ideas and practice of working therapeutically in nature. It will consist of experiential exercises and reflective time to deepen knowledge and skills in this area of psychotherapeutic practice.
Beginning in the studio we will explore practical and ethical boundaries of an outdoor arts psychotherapy practice – discussing the challenges and benefits of moving outdoors, for us and our clients. The afternoon will be spent outdoors working in nature and will be informed by the practice of environmental arts therapy.
