London Art Therapy Centre was established in March 2010 by two senior art therapists with over 40 years experience in the field. A large team of registered art therapists provide a range of services in bespoke art therapy studios. Psychotherapy, counselling psychology and EMDR therapy are also available and parallel appointments can be booked.
As a professional centre and hub for art therapy, there is a full programme of Continuing Professional Development training workshops for art therapists and other colleagues. In 2013 we pioneered the first Environmental Arts Therapy training course for qualified arts therapists and psychotherapists.
Trainee art therapists and supervisees have a stimulating environment and base for modelling their practice, further learning and engagement with other art therapists.
Monthly clinical meetings and regular art therapy happenings are part of the extended mix of events that take place. If you are interested in presenting a particular piece of research, clinical approach or art therapy history do get in touch.
We provide outreach and community art therapy to local schools, hospitals, organisations and businesses. We also provide supervision to arts therapists working in the NHS, in the charitable sectors, on trainee placements and elsewhere.
If you are looking to join a team of arts therapists, develop your private practice and need ready-to-go art therapy studios, please write to Hephzibah Kaplan, director, regarding the process and availability. Only HCPC registered arts therapists, and UKCP psychotherapists work at the centre. In 2013 London Art Therapy Centre incorporated and is run as a Social Enterprise.
“I want to say how much the Centre has contributed to supporting therapists, clients and organisations over the years. It’s a very special creative and supportive space which is leading the way in offering an accepting and professional space with real heart.“– Dave Rogers, Art Psychotherapist, Supervisor, Coach
