TBA | Undoing the Knots: Discover freedom through movement | One-day online workshop
Have you ever felt as though you are navigating life tangled in invisible knots? That your movements, emotions, and thoughts seem to collapse inward, bound by unseen tension?
It’s true—the world can be overwhelming and uncertain in countless ways, much of which we cannot control. But what we can influence is how we respond—how we support ourselves within this ever-shifting environment through the way we move. By changing our movement, we open the door to transformation.
In this workshop, we’ll dive into the Laban-Bartenieff Movement System (LBMS), a renowned and comprehensive framework for assessing and refining human movement patterns. LBMS is used to identify, explore, and interpret the rich complexity of how we move, offering profound insights into ourselves.
Centered around core models of movement, this workshop will guide you in self-exploration through the lens of your movement choices. We’ll explore foundational principles such as grounding, developmental progression, breath and core support, and patterns of body organisation, each offering tools for untangling life’s knots and moving with greater ease and connection. We’ll identify the patterns we use and over-use and enrich our own repertoire of responses by experiencing and making new choices in the ways we move our bodies in space.
The experiential work will be accompanied by a theoretical framework. Through this combination therapists and professionals will deepen their understanding of how the body and movement influence emotional and mental processes. They will be introduced to practical models for observing clients’ movement patterns and gain a broader and more profound perspective on their potential interpretations.
