Intersectionality through a GRACEFUL Lens | In-Person Full-day Workshop

Intersectionality through a GRACEFUL Lens is a workshop for Arts Therapists and mental health professionals looking to keep up to date with HCPC’s standards of proficiency relating to the impacts of culture, equality and diversity. It is also for practitioners who work with marginalised and intersecting communities who wish to reflect on diversity and intersectionality in an exploratory and creative way. 

This one-day workshop will be facilitated by an Art Therapist of mixed heritage who will draw upon his own lived experience. Participants will be guided through engaging experiential exercises related to the Social G.R.A.C.E.S  framework and other relevant theoretical approaches. This will help support deeper reflection on intersectionality and also promote personal and professional growth in this area. Further experiential learning will be incorporated throughout the day, including group work and directive art-making exercises.  By the end of the workshop, participants can expect to leave feeling more confident applying their learning to clinical practice and their work with clients.

Course Facilitators/Leaders

Tom Schwab manages a therapeutic service across three different schools, supporting pupils, parents and staff. He delivers workshops around the themes of intersectionality to a number of individuals and groups. Tom works in private practice with children, adolescents, adults and trainee therapists from various intersecting backgrounds. Tom also co-facilitates a Mixed Heritage Art Therapy group and has a keen interest in creating space for supporting the community.
